Champagne Alexis Arietis

Named after the brightest star in the Aries constellation, this is a really bright and beautiful pure Meunier. While the Maison is based in Troissy, this wine comes from across the river in the village of Vandières and, specifically, the two single vineyards 'La Perchotte' and 'La Forzie'. The terroir is a classic Marne clay-silt and limestone blend that gives wonderful richness to the wine. On the nose it's really juicy, with lovely fresh floral notes, peaches and a sandy element to it. The sense of soil continues on the palate, which is fabulously grippy and rich, with a lovely oxidative element from both oak vinification and ageing on cork.
